Kat is a distinctive and charming spayed female Anatolian Shepherd Dog who was dumped, along with her sister Rue on a country road and ended up facing a grim fate in a Texas animal shelter. Fortunately for the girls, a national rescue organization called The National Anatolian Rescue Network learned of their predicament, and sent in a volunteer to save them from being euthanized. Kat is looking for a loving family home. She is sweet and friendly and a big time tail wagger. Her estimated date of birth is 6/30/13. She seems to be in good health, but is about 20 lbs underweight. We have not had the opportunity to evaluate her with cats or children but she is good with other dogs and friendly with people. The National Anatolian Shepherd Rescue Network (NASRN). NASRN does not maintain shelters, and so relies on regional volunteers and organizations like DogsOnly to help them rescue and rehome animals. As with all Anatolians, secure fencing is an absolute requirement! Please dont be tempted to adopt on an impulse. Typical of Kats Anatolian Shepherd heritage, she could well live to be 15 years old, so you should take the time to carefully consider the long term commitment, expense, and passion it takes to give her the home she deserves. Kat might be cute, but she is still a very large, energetic, and powerful dog. Bringing a very large dog like Anatolian Shepherd into your home will almost certainly involve a significant financial commitment, and will require some personal sacrifice on your part. For that reason it would be best for Kat to live with a family experienced with large breed dogs. Kat will reward you with unbounded love and devotion, but you must be committed and serious about your decision to bring her into your life. Remember, this is an adoption, not a sale, and were very serious about making sure that both you and Kat are a good match for each other. Kats adoption fee is set by and goes to the National Anatolian Rescue Network and helps to reimburse their expenses for all the necessary vet care that have been provided to include: spay or neuter (mandatory - no exceptions, rabies, all vaccinations (including all puppy shots if applicable, rabies, adult boosters and Bordatella, grooming, Frontline for flea/tick preventative, heartworm check if age appropriate and monthly preventative for all ages while in foster care, and collar. The adoption fee does not reimburse for all our expenses and covers only a portion of the cost of Kats rescue and rehabilitation expenses. Neither DogsOnly or NASRN receives any type of tax, government or corporate sponsorship. Please keep this in mind when you are adopting a fully vetted dog. All of our young and adult dogs are available for a 2-week home visit before finalizing the adoption process (local adoptions only). This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. Puppies under the age of 6 months are not available to go on home visits. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times without prior arangement. All of our foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of our foster homes have cats, so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized.
